Presentation & Topics of I3SPA'06

In conjunction with the International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications (ISSPA), the International Summer School on Signal Processing and its Applications (I3SPA) was set up initially to promote the signal processing research activities in the Maghreb region.

I3SPA is emerging as a summer school dedicated to signal, image and video processing research. It is a forum that gathers leading researchers and postgraduate students from universities and industrial groups involved in the development of new applications and/or carrying out research projects relying on the fields of interest.

I3SPA 2006 that will be held at the University of Jijel will be the third edition in the series that was started in 2004. The first and the second editions were held at Ecole Nationale Polytechnique (Algiers’2004) and University Abdelhamid Ibn Badis (Mostaganem’2005) respectively, all three in Algeria.

I3SPA 2006 will be a meeting for exchanging the ideas and sharing the experiences between researchers, but also to be an area of training and learning where PhD students are given opportunity to present the main results of their research work in poster sessions, to get experts’ feedback and to learn about the most recent advances in the fields of interest.

The focus of this third edition will be on video and image processing. Following are the main topics of interest:

  • Joint Representation Analysis
  • Image and Video Quality Assessment
  • Neural Networks for Image Processing
  • Imaging for Forensics and Security (Biometrics, watermarking, …)
  • FPGA for Signal and Image Processing
  • Wavelets
  • Medical Imaging
  • Multi-Channel Image Processing
  • Video Processing and Coding
