Referring to the communication from His Excellency the Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the United Nations, Mr. BENDJAMA Amar, I have the honour to inform you of the launch of a call for applications for the appointment of experts to the Independent International Scientific Panel on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will be established in accordance with resolution A/RES/79/325.
The Panel's mission is to promote the scientific understanding of artificial intelligence by publishing annual reports, thematic notes, and assessments on the opportunities, risks, and impacts of AI.
The Panel, of a multidisciplinary nature, will be composed of 40 experts (with a maximum of two from the same nationality) primarily covering the technical, social, political, economic, legal, and ethical dimensions of artificial intelligence. The experts will be appointed for a 3-year term (starting in 2026) by the General Assembly on the recommendation of the Secretary-General.
In order to apply to the said panel and officially appoint Algerian experts to sit on this scientific panel, I would be grateful if you could take the necessary steps to launch the call for applications and send us at least seven (07) applications per regional conference and ten (10) applications for the DGRSDT, no later than October 20, 2025, at 12:00 PM so that we can present them to Mr. SG/MESRS for validation, before proceeding with the official online submission, the closing date of which is set for October 30, 2025.
