Opening of the 2026-2027 academic year
The University of Jijel hosted the official national opening of the 2026-2027 academic year
The ceremony was held under the supervision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Kamal Badari, and in the presence of the President of the University of Jijel, Professor Nourredine Ben Ali Cherif, the Governor of the province, Mr. Ahmed Meglati, senior officials of the relevant ministry, the heads of the regional university conferences (East, Center, West), the directors of the eastern universities, local authorities, and members of the National Assembly.
The opening ceremony was broadcast live across all university institutions from Tindouf to Tipaza and from Tlemcen to Tebessa. The choice of Jijel Province to host the opening ceremony carries a special national and humanitarian significance, considering the circumstances the region experienced this summer due to the fires that affected several of its areas. The Minister confirmed, in his speech on the occasion, that the Algerian university is entering the new academic year with a vision focused on improving the quality of education, developing scientific research, accelerating digital transformation, employing artificial intelligence, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and linking the university with its economic and social environment.
The ceremonies continued with an evaluation meeting with the university community, and the signing of cooperation and partnership agreements between the University of Jijel and the Jijel Port, Kotama Agrodiv Company, and Cosider Company, in addition to honouring professors and researchers who received national awards, and honouring outstanding students.
A joyous day for Jijel and its university, coming after the ordeal of the fires to confirm that after hardship comes ease, and that Algeria will remain proud as the martyrs, the freedom fighters, and all the good people wanted it to be
